Herman has a background in business administration and a PhD in strategic/international management science from Queen’s University of Belfast. He advises college, wo students and PhD students in both the structural and substantive aspects of a thesis. Herman has successfully guided more than 215 students of Topscriptie, from various studies: electrical engineering/technical business administration to business and media studies. His specializations are: business administration and related studies such as Management, Economics and Law (MER), Commercial Economics, Office Management, Speco, Sports Marketing and Management, Sports and Exercise Innovation, SBRM (Entrepreneurship), International Business Studies, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Business Administration (BA), Media and Entertainment Management (MEM and Creative Business), Aviation, Sales and account management, Marketing analytics and data science, qualitative research (drafting, analyzing and interpreting interviews and other qualitative methods) and data analysis (including econometrics and business students) using SPSS and Stata.
Herman is a dedicated thesis supervisor and can advise college and university students on issues such as the problem analysis, a clear structure, the theoretical framework, how to approach field research and its methodological justification, and of course the final piece of a thesis: the conclusion and recommendations.
During his doctoral research, Herman has taught and supervised students in various courses, including research skills (qualitative and quantitative research, business administration, and analysis using SPSS), management theories, and operations management.
Herman is curious, engaged, and dedicated; as a result, he is always looking for the heart of the story the student wants to tell with his/her thesis. These qualities not only help to separate the main issues from the side issues, but also to ensure that the student does not lose heart when things get tough. In addition, Herman also acts as “the big stick” to ensure that the student keeps a sharp eye on the agreed upon milestones and deadlines.
