Fred’s academic background is in corporate finance and investments: BSc and MBA. He received his PhD (from Tilburg University) in financial economics where he explained – based on econometric analysis – the price formation in corporate IPOs. Specifically, he compared the price formation of privatizations versus other IPOs in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Canada. He was appointed associate professor of Corporate Finance and Investment Theory at Tilburg University following his doctorate.
Fred has supervised more than 75 students in writing their thesis; also as an associate professor at the college’s knowledge center. Fred has extensive experience with the research and thesis process at both the HBO and WO.
The subjects he supervises are mainly in the areas of business economics, MBA, (financial) economics, strategy & innovation, marketing, organizational psychology and accountancy. Fred has a passion to help students constructively and concretely formulate research proposals properly, and provides useful tips to develop a proper qualitative and quantitative (SPSS, Matlab and Python) to perform data analysis. Finally, he likes to give pointers to good academic writing (academic writing) in Dutch and in English. In short, targeted thesis guidance to submit a good thesis on time!
