Aloys Bruggeman completed his Post Master Accountancy and IT at Tilburg University and then completed a second Post Master (EDP Audit) program at the Free University in Amsterdam. Aloys also has extensive practical experience.
10 years ago I started investing in real estate, and since that has since become my main business I stopped working for others and have the luxury of choosing which assignments I do. I have found that if I do only what I am truly passionate about, and consciously choose to do, I can contribute much more. One of my most enjoyable jobs is helping students with their theses and thereby getting the most out of them.
Having taught at various institutes of higher education, I am now a lecturer at the post-master’s program for chartered accountants at Tilburg University, where I also take practical theses and final exams. I am also an examiner at the International Business program in Maastricht.
I have noticed that writing a thesis is something completely different from an exam, some students who get wonderful grades for exams, sometimes have great problems with their thesis. In the beginning I did not understand why and started to analyze this, coming to the following conclusion. With a thesis, there is no clear beginning and end delineated and students are faced with an incredible amount of information. Students often struggle to get the right information structured in their thesis, something that is relatively easy to correct with a little guidance.
My areas of interest, besides the traditional (business) economics subjects, are Finance and Control, IT, Public Administration, Investment and acquisition issues, (real estate) investments, Cybersecurity, start-ups and scale ups and new technology in general such as Blockchain, Financial Services Management, Bitcoin, Business Intelligence and big data. Of course, it is no problem to work on English-language theses and supervise postgraduate courses.
My working area is Limburg, beyond that by appointment or online. At my own office in Heerlen I have facilities to work on theses undisturbed, for a day or part of a day, in order to reach a result in a short time (and SOG gene prevent).
I would like to commit to your thesis as well.
